When the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG (2008-2014) went out of production, naturally-aspirated AMGs were no more. A pity. Like its arch-rival the E92 BMW M3, the C63 had a V8 engine – displacing 6.2 litres – endowing it with a typically-AMG, polished, hot rod persona. > Mercedes-AMG C63 S review
TESTEDIt’s hard to fully enjoy something when you know it’s almost over. Production of the current Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG is drawing to a close, with the sedan gone by midyear, though the coupe will be around into 2015. With the end looming, every drive of this C63 coupe felt what we’ll miss most is AMG’s big, naturally aspirated V-8, which has already been supplanted in most of the AMG lineup by a twin-turbocharged V-8. What the gives up in torque to the force-fed it makes up for with its sound and its willingness to rev. It responds instantly, celebrates every combustion explosion through its brash exhaust, and makes us feel as if we’re getting the most out of every drop of premium, even as it does consume a monsoon of fuel. We were able to go only 16 miles on a gallon. The Honda Civic–sized car itself is just as raw as the engine. It’s still a Benz, so the structure feels as if it’s whittled out of a G-class, but the C63 has a brutally firm suspension. The steering is quick and alive, resulting in an angry little coupe that is reactive, fun, and more like a Black Series than any other AMG in the to make the end of production a little easier to swallow—and to move the last of the C63s—AMG is offering the Edition 507 package on both the sedan and the coupe. Named after the uprated 507-hp version of the the $9750 package adds a higher, 176-mph top speed; a vented aluminum hood from last year’s C63 Black Series; a multicolored leather interior; and forged 19-inch wheels. This final, 507-hp version of the C63 gets two-tone seats, forged wheels, the Black Series hood, and a lot of fond staff farewells. What the 507 option doesn’t do is make the C63 any quicker than the ’12 C63 coupe. Equipped with the discontinued $6050 AMG Development package, that 481-hp C63 was the quickest of any C63 we’ve encountered, hitting 60 mph in seconds, quicker than what we saw in the 510-hp Black Series. This C63’s launch-control programming is entertaining, but we still managed to beat it by a few tenths by applying light brake torque to the engine. With that technique, 60 mph arrived in seconds. We also tested a C63 507 sedan, which is lighter than the coupe by 45 pounds and managed a time. The take-away from all of this test talk: Every C63 we’ve ever run hit 60 mph in less than four seconds. They’re all quick, with or without the optional it’s because it won’t be around much longer, but we want a C63 more than ever. That said, we’d probably skip the Edition 507 and save the $10,000. That’s a lot of money, and it doesn’t make an already special car—one we’ll remember fondly long after its impending retirement—any more special. Introduced in 2013, the Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 was produced as a farewell to the W204 chassis and the naturally aspirated M156 V8 engine. The Edition 507 increases power output to 507 HP, thanks to forged pistons borrowed from the SLS AMG, new connecting rods, a lighter crankshaft, and a remapped ECU, and is also equipped with the composite braking system and vented aluminum hood from the C63 AMG Black Series, model-specific 19” forged wheels, gloss black exterior accents, and commemorative badging. This example finished in Designo Magno Platinum over a black leather interior was first sold in New York before spending the majority of its life in California. Now showing approximately 46k miles on the odometer, this special edition C63 AMG is being offered for auction by its seller out of Florida. This C63 was ordered in Designo Magno Platinum, a special matte finish exclusive to this model. The Edition 507 also features gloss black exterior accents on the front spoiler, mirror caps, running light bezels, trunklid spoiler, and heat extractors on the aluminum hood, in addition to red brake calipers and matte grey AMG “acceleration lines” on the rocker panels. The optional black-finished 10-spoke forged AMG wheels are mounted with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires from 2021. The CARFAX report indicates minor damage to the front driver’s side in July 2018, and another minor incident on the rear bumper in November 2019. Both damages have since been professionally repaired, and the seller describes the exterior to remain in very good condition apart from two paint chips on the passenger door and some curb marks on two of the wheels, detailed images are provided in the gallery along with the full CARFAX report. The interior of this Edition 507 is upholstered in black leather accented by gloss-black trim, and features bolstered power-adjustable and heated sport seats with AMG badges in the backrests, an AMG Performance flat-edged multifunction steering wheel in Alcantara with Porcelain contrast stitching and 12 o'clock marker, red-accented instrumentation, the gear selector knob and boot in DINAMICA with Porcelain contrast stitching and an AMG crest, and an Edition 507 badge on the passenger-side dashboard. Amenities include Keyless Go, dual-zone automatic climate control, COMAND infotainment with navigation, a Harman Kardon audio system, and embroidered floor mats. The C63 AMG Edition 507 is powered by a special naturally-aspirated M156 V8 rated at 507 HP and 450 lb-ft of torque. The engine uses forged pistons derived from the M159 V8 found in the SLS AMG, as well as new connecting rods, a lighter crankshaft, and a remapped ECU. Power is sent to the rear wheels through a seven-speed Speedshift MCT dual-clutch transmission, allowing for the Edition 507 to reach 60 MPH in seconds with a raised top speed of 174 MPH. Stopping power is derived from 6-piston front calipers and four-piston in the rear, clamping down on discs at all corners. An oil change and inspection were carried out in preparation for the sale. This sale will include a clean title. Auction Results Highest Bid: $40,000 Auction End: 2022-05-02 20:01:02+00:00 Number of Bids: 18 viewed 1,750 times Mercedes-Benz C-Class in Philadelphia PA. Driven: 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 Reviews I By Bradley Iger I May 05, 2014 As the launch of the next generation C-Class fast approaches, AMG decided to release one more third generation C63 with a little extra chutzpah. Slotted between the standard C63 AMG and the more track focused C63 AMG Black Series, the Edition 507 borrows some hardware from the Black Series parts bin while retaining much of the comfort and convenience from the standard C63. We set out to determine whether it’s the best of both worlds or merely curious combination of the two. What’s the idea behind the C63 AMG Edition 507? In the simplest terms, the Edition 507 is a more potent C63 in a package that’s designed to be serviceable for everyday use. The "507" in name denotes the horsepower of the C63’s V8, up 56 ponies and a handful of foot-pounds compared to the standard C63. The newfound power is provided by way of forged pistons, connecting rods and lightweight crankshaft, all derived from the motor used in SLS AMG. The C63’s top speed gets a bump to 174mph. Both the brakes and the aluminum hood with its functional vents from the C63 Black Series make their way onto the Edition 507, along with unique 19" forged alloys, gloss black accents, and side stripes which help to differentiate the 507 from other C63 variants. How does it drive on the street? While the engine and brakes get a noticeable upgrade, there’s a number of elements from the standard C63 that the AMG engineers haven’t chosen to fiddle around with. Notably, the suspension remains unchanged from the standard car, which we appreciated while driving around town, since the C63’s suspension is already pretty firm as it is. The setup is thoroughly sport-tuned, and stays flat and predictable when pushed. However, the trade off for the engaging driving dynamics is a fairly harsh ride quality on city streets, with road surface imperfections and uneven surfaces making their presence well known at all times. It certainly isn’t unbearable by any means, but those expecting an adaptive damping system or the compliant ride quality found in Mercedes-Benz’s standard products may be in for a bit of a surprise. The steering has also carried over from the standard C63, and we’re quite happy with that, as the C63’s steering is an ideal balance between weighted precision and ease of use at parking lot speeds. The C63’s V8 (and yes, it is a despite the badges) is the stuff dreams are made of. We sincerely hope that someday well into the future, some enterprising hot rodder will find a way to put these engines into project vehicles, because the thought of this motor fading into history alongside with the W204 C-Class is just too unsettling to fully accept. Power is on tap across in the rev range, right when you ask for it, and the muscular V8 soundtrack that accompanies that power is flat out fantastic. However, what’s slightly less than fantastic is the gearbox. In a world where dual clutch transmissions like those found on the Audi RS5 exist – a world in which shifts are completed even before your finger has had time to release the paddle – the slightly lackadaisical shifts of the AMG seven-speed "multi clutch" unit feel a bit dated. It also lacks some of the near-clairvoyance of better sorted DCTs when left in automatic mode. Those brakes that have been plucked from the C63 Black Series, with six-pistons calipers up front and four-piston calipers out back, are a welcome addition to the 507’s newfound acceleration and top speed. This setup continually provided totally consistent pedal feel and top shelf stopping power regardless of much abuse we put them through, and fade was a non-issue. Our willingness to carry speed while carving down twisty bits of tarmac continued to increase as we discovered just how capable these brakes are when it comes time to slow things down. Would it work well for track days? As it comes from the showroom, taller drivers might run into some trouble taking a C63 Edition 507 to the track. Your author’s 6’3 frame glances the headliner even with the seat set to its lowest position, so we can only imagine that wearing a helmet would present some difficultly in that regard. Those seats, while immensely comfortable, feel as though you’re sitting on top of them, rather than in them. While that’s good for grand touring comfort, it’s less than ideal for going 10/10ths at the track. However, in terms of mechanical componentry, the engine, brakes, suspension, steering, and tires are certainly up to the task, and the C63 507’s immense torque coupled with its willingness to rotate would definitely make for an entertaining day on the road course. You might consider bringing an extra set of rear tires, though. How is the design? While it lacks some of the aggression of the Black Series, the Edition 507’s aesthetic is suitably beefed up in comparison to the standard C63. Without resorting to gimmickry, the Edition 507’s bolstered capability is explained via the sharp looking forged wheels, functional hood vents, and subtle stripping just above the rocker panels. Inside, things are essentially standard AMG fare, with the great feeling, alcantara wrapped steering wheel taking center stage. Our tester came equipped with the two-tone Nappa leather upholstery which added a bit of flair to an otherwise rather muted color palette. Our test car also came loaded with the optional Multimedia Package, which adds a inch color display, hard drive based navigation, and various other technological sundries. Mercedes-Benz is another company resistant to make the switch to a touchscreen based system, and similar to Audi and BMW, these systems are controlled via a rotary knob and a smattering of buttons around it. It works reasonably well, assuming you’re familiar with this type of interface, but for those of us accustomed to touchscreens (which is essentially anyone with a cell phone made after 2009), it can be frustrating to see what you want to press on the screen and then have to determine which sequence of knob twists and button presses will get you there. But we digress. Final thoughts? After seven years on the market, the new C-Class looks to be landing right on schedule, not allowing this current generation to overstay its welcome. However, there’s a lot to like about this outgoing model, and at least one thing we’ll miss – we hear that the wonderful V8 found in the current model will be replaced by a small displacement mill which adds a pair of turbochargers to compensate. We’ll withhold judgment until we’ve seen what Affalterbach has cooked up, though. Ultimately, while it may be time for a changing of the guard, the one that’s on duty now is most certainly a keeper. 2014 Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507 Price: $62,760 (base), $87,885 as tested Engine: V8 Output: 507 horsepower, 450 lb-ft of torque 0-60 mph: seconds (est) Fuel economy: 13 city / 19 highway / 15 combined On sale: Now

Mercedes increased the power on the C63 AMG to 469-hp and 479-tq, and 503-hp and 516-tq for the C63 S variant. The W205 C63 AMG goes from zero to 60 mph in 3.8 seconds, while the S model does it in just 3.7 seconds. Quarter mile times were 12.0 and 11.9 seconds at 122 and 123 mph, respectively.
Invoking their inner Tim Taylor Mercedes adds, "more power!" Apologies to the recent C63 AMG buyers, but there is a new flagship ride in the C-Class lineup. Mercedes has announced that in the 2014 model year they will offer a special C63 AMG dubbed “Edition 507.” While the name does sound like a label you’d see on a vile in a laboratory it actually refers to the new horsepower the car will produce, 507. That’s an additional 56hp out of the AMG liter V8 engine while still producing 450 of torque. Much of the advancements come by way of the SLS AMG and why wouldn’t they, it’s a thing of beauty. According to Mercedes the “Edition 507” will utilize “the eight-cylinder naturally aspirated engine features forged pistons, connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft as seen on the super sports car [SLS AMG].” The new horsepower brings the 0-60 time on the “Edition 507” to seconds with a 174mph top speed. Though the car is said to be aimed at their loyal customers there is little doubt it will create some new ones when it drops Summer of 2013. Press Blast: The C63 AMG models are becoming even more aggressive with the addition of a newly developed “Edition 507”. The output of the AMG liter V8 engine has been increased by 56 hp, bringing the output to 507 hp with 450 of torque. The model year 2014 C63 AMG “Edition 507” uses much of the same technology as the SLS AMG: the eight-cylinder naturally aspirated engine features forged pistons, connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft as seen on the super sports car. An AMG high-performance compound constuction braking system with red brake calipers is fitted as standard. The C63 AMG “Edition 507” will be available in the Summer of 2013 and is designed to appeal to ambitious drivers who take pleasure in best-in-class technology as well as exclusive design and sporty handling. The C63 AMG “Edition 507” coupe and sedan produces 507 hp and accelerates from 0-60 in seconds. This new model outperforms the existing 451 hp C63 model by three-tenths of a second, and the variants with the AMG Development Package which produce 481 hp by two-tenths of a second. In addition to an increase in top speed to 174 mph, the “Edition 507” also includes a voucher for a driver training session at the AMG Driving Academy. According to Ola Källenius, Chairman of the Board of Management of Mercedes-AMG GmbH: “The C 63 AMG with the classic AMG high-revving V8 naturally aspirated engine is one of the most popular AMG high-performance cars in the world. With the new C 63 AMG “Edition 507″, we are offering our loyal customers an attractive model variant which boasts even higher performance and at the same time is visually exciting.” C63 AMG “Edition 507” featuring technology from the SLS AMG The increase in power output to 507 hp at 6800 rpm comes courtesy of the modified inner workings of the AMG V8 engine. The forged pistons adopted from the SLS AMG, together with new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft, translate into a weight saving of lbs. The reduction of rotational mass inertia improves the agility of the eight-cylinder M156 naturally aspirated engine. The maximum torque has also increased by 7 jumping from 443 to 450 at 5200 rpm. The titanium grey-painted variable intake manifold is a characteristic feature of the uprated V8 engine. A new engine control system rounds off the series of implemented powertrain measures. The exterior of the C63 AMG “Edition 507” is characterized by exclusive new design features. Most notable of the features is the hood – it originates from the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. Two openings in the distinctive aluminium hood help with expelling engine heat. Newly designed AMG light-alloy forged wheels with 235/35 R 19 front tires and 255/30 R 19 rear tires are another exclusive feature of the “Edition 507”. The AMG light-alloy wheels are produced using lightweight forging technology and are available in two variants: titanium grey with a high-sheen finish, or matte black with highsheen rim flanges. An AMG sports stripe applique in matte graphite grey have been located above the rocker panels and are yet another new feature of the exterior. The spoiler lip on the trunk lid, the exterior mirror housings as well as the surrounds on the radiator grille and daytime running lights are all finished in high-gloss black. Available as an option for the C63 AMG “Edition 507” is an exclusive designo magno platinum matte finish paint. AMG high-performance braking system featuring compound technology As standard, the C63 AMG “Edition 507” comes with an even more powerful AMG high-performance braking system featuring compound construction technology. The front axle makes use of compound brake discs measuring in. x in. The advantages of the compound design include higher fatigue strength and lower warping characteristics. In addition, compound construction discs are lighter in weight and the reduced unsprung masses improve the response of the spring/damping elements. With compound construction, the brake discs are connected to an aluminium bowl via eight cast bracket arms. The brake discs are ventilated and perforated all around and are decelerated by means of 6-piston aluminium fixed calipers on the front axle and 4-piston fixed calipers on the rear axle. The brake callipers are painted red as standard fitment. “Edition 507” interior: even more dynamic and exclusive The sporty yet functional interior of the C63 AMG is even more dynamic and exclusive in the case of the “Edition 507”. Three different equipment and options are available to choose from: porcelain designo leather/DINAMICA, black designo leather/DINAMICA and black designo leather. In the case of the designo leather/DINAMICA upholstery, light-colored contrast stitching makes for an attractive highlight. The AMG Performance steering wheel in Alcantara® with light-colored contrasting stitching has a 12-o’clock marking. The gear selector lever of the AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission is finished in DINAMICA and features an AMG badge. The steering wheel and gear selector lever gaiter also have light-colored contrast stitching. In the AMG instrument cluster, red applications to the dials serve to visually differentiate this variant from the other C63 AMG models. The trim is done in high-gloss black piano lacquer and the “Edition 507” badge on the trim on the front passenger side round off the high-quality, exclusive interior. Optional extras include: • AMG illuminated door rocker panels • AMG rear axle locking differential • AMG 5-spoke light-alloy forged wheels, painted in titanium grey and with a high-sheen finish, with tires in sizes 235/40 R 18 (front) and 255/35 R 18 (rear) • AMG Performance Media • AMG carbon-fiber/high gloss black piano lacquer-look trim • Exterior designo magno platinum matte finish paint; four other exterior paint colors will be available from the existing C63 AMG palette. The C63 AMG “Edition 507” will be celebrating its world premiere at the Geneva Motor Show, which will be opening its doors on March 5, 2013. The model’s sales and market launch in the is planned for the Summer of 2013. Pricing will be announced closer to the market launch. The C63 AMG “Editon 507” coupe and sedan replace the existing AMG Development Package for MY2014, and will be sold in the in addition to the existing C63 AMG coupe and sedan with 451 hp.

Panie i Panowie, oto Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG Edition 507. Do współpracy całość otrzymała 7-stopniowy automat Speedshift MCT.

by , on July 4, 2013, 12:00 Mercedes has just announced the addition of an even more powerful version to its C-Class lineup. Called C63 AMG "Edition 507" – the “507” is a clear indication of the engine’s output - the new model will use much of the same technology as the SLS AMG supercar. The new elements - including forged pistons, connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft - will transform the new "Edition 507" into a more powerful, yet lighter sports model. The new C63 AMG "Edition 507" will also be distinguished by design elements seen on models like the C63 AMG Coupe Black Series. These extra styling elements combined with the anticipated power hike definitely get our attention. So, if you happen to be one of those crazy people that think the 451-horsepower C63 AMG is just a little too timid for you, the "Edition 507" just might be the car for you. Or maybe you would prefer a fighter jet; better yet, a rocket ship… Yeah, that may satisfy your itch for speed! UPDATE 07/04/2013: Mercedes has released pricing details for the new C63 AMG "507 Edition" for the and German markets. More details after the jump. Hit the jump to read more about the 2014 Mercedes C63 AMG "Edition 507". Exterior On the new Mercedes C63 AMG "Edition 507" you will see design elements previously seen in the Black Series version. There will be an aluminum hood with two wide openings for better engine cooling, a spoiler on the trunk lid and, of course, a set of light-alloy forged wheels. Customers can choose between two sets of wheels: one offered in titanium grey with a high-sheen finish and the other one in matte black with high-sheen rim flanges. Both, however, come wrapped in high-performance tires sized 235/35R19 up front and 255/30R19 on the backside. Other distinctive elements will include a sports stripe applique in matte graphite and high-gloss black appliques on the exterior mirrors, the radiator-grille and daytime running light surrounds. For the new "Edition 507", Mercedes developed an exclusive designo magno platinum matte finish paint, which will be offered as an option. Interior The interior continues with the same exclusive feeling as the exterior. Customers can choose between three different interior setups: porcelain designo leather/DINAMICA, black designo leather/DINAMICA and black designo leather. Along with these choices, each model will be offered with an AMG Performance steering wheel in Alcantara combined with a gear selector lever in Dinamica. On the instrument cluster, the trim is done in high-gloss black piano lacquer combined with red applications to the dials. The final elements are, of course, the "Edition 507" badge on the trim on the front passenger side. Optional extras: AMG illuminated door rocker panels AMG rear axle locking differential AMG 5-spoke light-alloy forged wheels, painted in titanium grey and with a high-sheen finish, with tires in sizes 235/40 R 18 (front) and 255/35 R 18(rear) AMG Performance Media AMG carbon-fiber/high gloss black piano lacquer-look trim Exterior designo magno platinum matte finish paint; four other exterior paint colors will be available from the existing C63 AMG Under the hood, Mercedes has installed an AMG V-8 engine with technologies inspired by the SLS AMG supercar. The V-8 engine has been equipped with forged pistons, new connecting rods and a lightweight crankshaft. All these new elements helped save pounds, but also considerably increased the engine’s output. The engine hooks up to a AMG SPEEDSHIFT MCT 7-speed sports transmission that delivers power to the rear wheels. As a result the new "Edition 507" delivers a total of 507 horsepower and a peak torque of 450 pound-feet. With the extra 50 horsepower, the model will sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just seconds and up to a top speed of 174 mph. Brake System In order to handle the extra power, the new "Edition 507" has been equipped with an AMG high-performance braking system, which features compound-construction technology that makes it lighter and improves the response of the spring elements. On the front axle, Mercedes installed discs sized inches x inches connected with six-piston aluminum fixed calipers. The brake calipers are painted red on both models. Prices On the market the C63 AMG "Edition 507" sedan is priced at $70,000 (plus $925 for destination and delivery) and the coupe at $72,500 (plus $925 for destination and delivery). Mercedes did not release the anticipated delivery date for the "Edition 507". Pricing In Germany, the C 63 AMG "Edition 507" starts at €83, in Saloon format and tops out at €86,395 in its Estate format. The "Edition 507" model hit dealers in June 2013. German Pricing Competitors BMW M3 GTS With its 507-horsepower output level, the Mercedes C63 AMG "Edition 507" has left its usual competitors well behind. In fact, there is no standard BMW M3 out there with the same output level. Not even the GTS version is not as powerful as the new "Edition 507". It is powered by a liter V-8 engine with an output of 450 horsepower. The M3 GTS sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just seconds and can hit a top speed of 189 mph, which makes it seconds slower to 60 mph, but gives it a top speed that is 15 mph faster. Conclusion If you are looking for a more powerful C63 AMG, the new "Edition 507" is definitely the car for you. It offers technologies from the SLS supercar and of course, has pretty much no competition on the market. Still, as we have no prices just yet, we cannot tell if the car really worth. If the "Edition 507" isn’t enough for you, we’ll refer you to NASA to try out a rocket ship… Love it More powerful than the standard C63 AMG Highly equipped SLS technology Leave it No prices yet No station wagon for the market Alina Moore Alina Joined the team in the early 2000s as one of the outlets very first experts, and she’s been with ever since.
